Terms of Use

1. Scope and provider

These terms apply to the use of the Centamo app for iPhone and of this website. The provider is Dennis Donner, Eduard-v-Winterstein-Straße 11, 14480 Potsdam, Germany, app-support@donner.io. You get the app from Apple’s App Store; Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA) also applies.

2. The app

Centamo is a tool to plan and record your personal finances: accounts, bookings, receipt scanning, a forecast of what is free until payday, budgets, savings goals, fixed costs, contracts and subscriptions, debts and loans, shared household costs, reports, exports, encrypted backups, reminders and widgets. Centamo does not connect to banks; you enter everything yourself. The features available depend on your device, your iOS version and the permissions you grant.

3. Your records and your responsibility

You decide what you record. Balances, the free amount, forecasts, budgets, goal progress, splits, reports and exports are calculated from the data you enter and the settings you choose, including exchange rates you enter yourself. They are estimates for your own planning and do not replace your bank statements. Amounts, dates and merchants suggested from a scanned receipt can be wrong; check them before you save. You are responsible for checking all results before you rely on them.

4. Your data and backups

Your records are stored on your device only and are excluded from iCloud and device backups. I cannot restore them for you. Create an encrypted backup regularly and keep the file and its password safe; a forgotten password cannot be recovered. Losing or resetting your device without a backup can mean losing your records. Restoring a backup replaces all data on the device.

5. Availability and changes

I keep improving Centamo and may change, add or remove features with updates, as long as this is reasonable for you. I cannot guarantee that the app is always available and without errors, or that it works on older devices and iOS versions.

6. Rights to the app

The app, its design, texts and graphics are protected by copyright. You receive the right to use the app for your own purposes according to Apple’s standard EULA. You may not decompile, resell or redistribute the app except where the law allows it. Open-source components are used under their own licences.

7. Liability

I am liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act and where I have given a guarantee. For slight negligence, I am only liable for breaches of essential obligations (obligations whose fulfilment makes proper use of the app possible and on which you may rely), limited to the damage that was typical and foreseeable when the contract was concluded. Otherwise, liability for slight negligence is excluded. This also applies to my representatives and agents.

8. Apple

Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of Apple’s EULA and may enforce it against you.

9. Applicable law

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not take away the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live.

10. Changes to these terms

I may update these terms, for example when the app changes. The version shown here applies; important changes are announced with the app update.
